Introducing vibe coding in Google AI Studio
In a move presumably aiming at attracting casual developers, Google AI Studio adds a new “vibe coding” workflow that turns a single natural-language prompt into a wired, AI-powered app in minutes. The experience is built around Gemini models that handle configuration and orchestration, removing much of the manual work involved in combining models, APIs, and UI scaffolding.
From prompt to app, with models doing the plumbing
Describe a multi-modal app and the platform determines needed capabilities and wires together the appropriate services and models. The aim is to compress the path from idea to prototype by automating model selection, API connections, and starter code generation. A built-in option to generate starter ideas — labeled as an “I’m Feeling Lucky” flow — helps seed app concepts when inspiration is limited.
Key technical point: the system relies on Gemini models to infer required components and set up the app runtime automatically.
Revamped App Gallery and contextual inspiration
The App Gallery has been redesigned into a visual library of example projects. Each entry provides a preview and starter code that can be remixed. While projects build, a new Brainstorming Loading Screen surfaces context-aware suggestions generated by Gemini, turning build wait time into an ideation moment.

Annotation Mode for visual edits
Refinement is handled through an Annotation Mode that lets developers highlight UI elements and provide natural-language instructions to change them. Tasks such as adjusting button color, restyling card layouts, or adding a simple animation can be described against highlighted elements instead of editing code directly. This creates a more visual, iterative editing loop for interface tweaks.
Keep coding when quotas run out
To avoid interruptions once free quotas are exhausted, the platform allows adding a personal API key so development can continue. When the free tier renews, the environment automatically switches back to the built-in quota.
Learning resources
A collection of tutorials is available as a YouTube playlist that covers vibe coding workflows and getting started with AI Studio.

These updates emphasize integrating AI at every phase of app creation — from ideation and prototyping to iterative UI refinement — with the explicit goal of lowering the technical barrier for building multi-model AI applications.
