Boris Cherny announced two updates to Claude Code for the Desktop app: Plan mode has arrived on desktop, and Notifications now alert when Claude requires approval so work can continue while Claude runs in the background.

The second update adds the very much welcome desktop Notifications that ping when Claude needs approval. The notification system enables Claude to continue running tasks in the background and request confirmation only when decision points arise.
