Claude Code Remote Control update adds session launch from phone

Claude has just rolled out a reliability upgrade for Claude Code Remote Control, including the ability to start new sessions from your phone. It also aims to keep mobile and desktop sessions in sync and fix stale “offline” status. Some users still report dropouts and Android quirks.

Claude Code Remote Control received a reliability upgrade on August 22, according to the ClaudeDevs announcement, after the team identified remote-control reliability as the most-requested fix in the previous month.

The update lets users launch a new Claude Code session from a phone rather than limiting mobile access to sessions that are already running. Any machine running claude remote-control appears as a device card at the top of the mobile app’s Code tab. Selecting a device and directory launches a session on that machine.

The phone and desktop session are also intended to remain synchronized automatically. Resuming a session on a laptop keeps the phone connected to the live session instead of archiving it. When Claude Code exits, the mobile app should mark the session offline within seconds, addressing stale status information that previously could remain visible indefinitely.

The release also includes model selection and other fixes for the mobile Remote Control experience.
